Benji Madden and Cameron Diaz have been married for over nine years now. Their daughter was born four years ago, and since then, they’ve kept her away from the public eye.
Recently, it appears they’ve welcomed their second child together. Here’s more on their newest family addition.
Actress Cameron Diaz, 51, and musician Benji Madden, 45, announced the birth of their second child, a son named Cardinal, on Friday. They made the announcement on Instagram with a photo of artwork reading, “A little bird whispered to me.” The news caught many by surprise since the couple hadn’t revealed they were expecting.
In the caption, Madden wrote, “We are blessed and excited to announce the birth of our Son, Cardinal Madden. He is awesome, and we are all so happy he is here!” He added, “For the kids’ safety and privacy, we won’t be posting any pictures, but he’s really cute. We are feeling so blessed and grateful.”
Benji and Cameron are known for keeping their lives private. They got married in 2015 and welcomed their daughter, Raddix, in 2019. They kept Raddix’s arrival quiet until after her birth, announcing it on social media.
“We are so happy, blessed, and grateful to begin this new decade by announcing the birth of our daughter, Raddix Madden,” wrote Cameron Diaz in the birth announcement for their first child. “She has instantly captured our hearts and completed our family.”
According to a close source, the couple faced challenges in conceiving their daughter. “They went through so much to get to this point,” said the source. “Cameron feels like this baby is truly a miracle.” The source also revealed that Raddix was born through surrogacy, although the couple never confirmed this publicly.
Following the news of their second child, some people expressed disapproval. One Instagram user commented, “Who the heck wants to become a parent at 51 yrs old?” Another wrote, “Omg. She is so old, I hope they have a surrogate.” It seems not everyone agrees with their decision to have another child at this stage in their lives, but opinions vary on such matters.
