Williams, who shares the screen with Ford on Apple TV+’s Shrinking, could hardly contain herself as she paused her speech to address the situation. With a playful tone and a mock scolding attitude, she yelled, “I told him to turn away! Don’t look!” This impromptu interruption sent the room into even more fits of laughter as Ford, ever the good sport, smiled and acknowledged the playful teasing.
Despite the interruption, Williams quickly regained her composure and carried on with her speech, filled with her trademark wit. She continued, “I’ve lived my dream of preparing at a Starbucks bathroom before an audition to my dream of crying in a Del Taco bathroom afterwards,” making the audience laugh even harder. She added, “I’ve lived my dream of changing clothes while parked on a street nice enough to have shady trees, but not so nice that some white lady called the police on me,” before finishing her speech with a heartfelt message: “But more than just a dream factory, this city has always been my home. I am Jessica Williams, I am LA born and bred, and I am an actor.”
This candid, hilarious moment between Williams and Ford highlighted the fun dynamic between the two stars, both of whom portray therapists in Shrinking. The Apple TV+ series is nominated for two awards at the 2025 SAG Awards, including Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series. Ford, meanwhile, is also nominated for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Comedy Series.
