Do you know which celebrity we rarely hear from? It’s Julia Roberts.
The Oscar-winning actress has starred in some of the most successful films of the past three decades, yet we fans hardly know anything about her.
There’s a Twitter account registered under her name with over 540,000 followers, but the person behind the account hasn’t tweeted even once.
I checked to see if she has Instagram, but I only found an unofficial fan page.
Facebook? Nope.
These days, most celebrities have social media accounts where they interact with fans and share pictures of themselves and their families. But Julia Roberts hasn’t embraced that trend.
Would you like to know about a celebrity I think we rarely hear from?
The Oscar-winning actress has appeared in some of the most successful films of the past three decades, and yet we fans hardly know anything about her.
One thing we do know, however, is that when Julia Roberts became a wife and mother, her life changed for the better.
Today, her three kids have grown up. Julia’s daughter, in particular, has garnered a lot of attention in recent years.
That’s perhaps not so surprising, considering that the young lady is starting to look just like her famous mother.
Nowadays, most celebrities have active social media accounts where they regularly interact with their fans, sharing daily updates and pictures of themselves and their families. However, Julia Roberts, widely regarded as one of the biggest movie stars in history, hasn’t embraced this trend.
There is a Twitter account registered under her name with more than 540,000 followers, but surprisingly, the person behind the account hasn’t posted a single tweet.
Facebook? Nope, she’s not active on there either.
Julia Roberts has expressed that she feels fortunate to have avoided the trappings of the strange celebrity culture that often accompanies the internet age. She believes that her age has played a role in this, stating, “I also think I got lucky because … the strange culture of celebrity and the Internet age — I kind of am too old for that silly mess that goes on. I’m glad about that. It’s helped that I’m definitely of a particular age.”
Julia Roberts, the acclaimed actress, does maintain an Instagram account; however, she rarely shares photos of her family, especially her children. She has been notably protective of her children’s privacy, preferring to keep them out of the public eye.
In 2013, she emphasized her desire to shield her family from intrusion, stating, “We try to protect our kids. We just want to have our family life and not have that intruded upon.”
Julia Roberts’ romantic life has seen its share of high-profile relationships. She dated several well-known actors, including Benjamin Bratt and Kiefer Sutherland. At one point, she was even dubbed “America’s sweetheart,” with numerous suitors vying for her attention.
During the height of her career, Julia Roberts began a relationship with singer-songwriter Lyle Lovett. Their whirlwind romance led to a spontaneous marriage in 1993, but the pressures of their high-profile lives eventually led to divorce, and they separated in 1995.
Roberts later found love behind the camera when she met cinematographer Daniel Moder on the set of “The Mexican” in 2000. They married in 2002 and welcomed twins, Hazel and Phinnaeus, in 2004. Three years later, they had another son, Henry.
Julia Roberts has credited her husband, Daniel Moder, with bringing profound changes to her life. Before marriage and motherhood, she described herself as “a selfish little brat running around making films.” Her husband’s influence shifted her priorities significantly.
“It was meeting Danny…finding my person. When I think about what makes my life my life, and makes sense and just shine inside of me, it’s him. Everything has come from that for me,” Julia told Harper’s Bazaar.
Over the years, Julia and Danny have worked on several films together. This has strengthened their relationship, and the couple has been happily married for 20 years. Last year, Julia celebrated their 19th anniversary by posing a rare Instagram photo of she and her husband.
“19 years. Just getting started!” she wrote.
Julia Roberts’ Children
Today, Julia proudly embraces her role as a mother to her three children: twins Hazel and Phinnaeus, born in November 2004, and her youngest child, Henry.
Despite her status as a renowned star of films like “Notting Hill,” Julia describes herself as an ordinary mom, engaging in typical activities like being a soccer mom and a housewife. During an interview with Harper’s Bazaar, she humorously quipped, “If I wasn’t here today, I’d be in the carpool lane ferrying my kids to school.”
As mentioned earlier, Julia welcomed her twins in November 2004, while her son Henry was born in June 2007. While she considers her children her most significant accomplishment in life, parenting has had its share of challenges for Julia and her husband.
She shared a humorous anecdote during an interview with InStyle, joking about her physical struggles as a parent: “I tried to carry somebody up to bed the other night, and it was just… alright, you’re gonna have to get on your feet and sleepwalk because I just can’t get up the stairs.”
Julia has made a conscious effort to shield her children from the limelight, prioritizing their privacy and normal upbringing. However, she has occasionally opened up about her experiences as a mother and mentioned that her children share traits with both her and her husband, Danny Moder.
And the thing is, we have these three human beings who are just a complete reflection of the affection we have for each other,” Julia Roberts remarked about her children.
In her pursuit of providing her kids with a more private and quieter upbringing away from the Hollywood spotlight, Julia decided to move from bustling Los Angeles to San Francisco, a more diverse and low-profile environment. A friend of Julia shared with Closer Weekly that she wanted her children to experience a city with a different energy and vibe, away from the glitz and glamour.
In San Francisco, Julia’s children are not viewed as movie star kids, where no one cares about their mother’s fame, according to an insider.
As her children grow older, it has become increasingly challenging to shield them from the limelight, and Julia may have adopted a different perspective on this matter.
On Hazel and Phinnaeus’s birthday in November 2021, Julia Roberts shared heartfelt tributes to her twins, including a lovely throwback photo. Danny Moder, her husband, also conveyed warm wishes to the children.
Regarding Hazel Moder, she is Julia’s only daughter, and for a long time, not much was known about her. However, recent photos of Hazel have surfaced, revealing a striking resemblance between mother and daughter. With her blonde hair and facial features, Hazel appears to be her mother’s spitting image, don’t you think?
Hazel Moder not only bears a striking physical resemblance to her mother, Julia Roberts, but it also appears that she inherited her mother’s compassionate spirit. Julia once shared a heartwarming story about Hazel, who, at the age of 12, decided to cut her hair to donate it to Wigs for Kids.
Julia spoke about this gesture in an interview with InStyle in 2017, saying, “That’s a big deal for a girl who’s about to be 13 and has this cascading blonde hair that gets commented on a lot. But she’s so good and brave. She sees it as something else.”
In 2021, Hazel made waves when she made her red carpet debut at the Cannes Film Festival. She attended the festival alongside her father, who was there to promote his film “Flag Day.”
According to Etonline, the 16-year-old Hazel donned Mary Janes and opted for a “90s chic” look with a butterscotch yellow button-up lace shirtdress.
The resemblance between Hazel and Julia is striking, both in terms of looks and, it seems, in their compassionate hearts.
